Shahid Afridi (Boom Boom)

Hi! Everyone hoped all of you will be fine. Today I am going to talk about Afridi.
Boom Boom Afridi's full name is Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi. He was born on 1st March 1980 in Khyber Agency. He was an international cricketer. He played for Pakistan. He played international cricketer for Pakistan for more than 21 years.
  

Debut Match:

 Shahid Afridi has played his debut ODI match against Kenya in 1996. In that match, he didn't play well. He neither got any wicket nor got a chance to bat in that match. But in the very 2nd match of his life, he played so well that just made his career. The match was against Srilanka on 4-October-1996.



Retirement:

After a remarkable career of more than 20 years, Afridi decided to take retirement from International cricket. He announced his retirement in 2017 from all formats. But he took his retirement on 31 May 2018, during the tour of World XI to West Indies.




When I was a  kid, I was only known to cricket by hearing about him, actually, It was the match between Pakistan and India when I get acknowledged by the name Boom Boom Afridi from the beautiful voice of my father.


Man of the Match awards:-

Sahibzada Shahid Khan Afridi won 30+ man of the match awards in ODIs.

First Man of the Match award:-

He won his first man of the match award against playing Srilanka in 4/10/1996, for his remarkable batting.
He scored 102 runs on just 40 balls. He did his first hundred on just 37 balls. And it was the fastest century during that time. Wow isn't it extraordinary that he made a world record in his second inning?

Last Man of the Match award:-

Shahid Afridi won his last Man of the Match award against Bangladesh in Asia Cup 2014.
He played the inning of 59 runs on just 25 balls. In that match, he hit 2 4s and  7 6s.

Man of Match Awards in T20:-

Shahid Khan Afridi won 11 Man of the Match awards in his International T20  career.



Records By Afridi:-

  • Longest Six Record:-
    • Yes! Shahid Khan Afridi aka Boom Boom holds the record of longest SIX in International cricket. He hit the ball so forcefully that it remained in the air for 158 meters. He played this shot against South Africa, 3rd ODI at Johannesburg on March 17, 2013.
  • 12 runs off 1 legal ball:-
    • Shahid also posses this record in his record book. He played the shot against Australian cricketer Mike Hussey.

  1. Shahid Afridi played 5 International cricket world cups.
  2. Shahid has 1.3 Million followers on twitter & 1.4 Million followers on Instagram.
  3. He took Pakistan to the semifinal in 2011's World Cup after 1999's World Cup.
  4. He is the  Lux Style Award winner for 'Most Stylish Sportsman' in 2007 as well as in 2011.
  5. He is also organizing a brand named ''Hope Not Out!".
  6.  He runs an N.G.O named as Shahid Afridi Foundation
  7. Shahid Afridi remained the captain of Peshawar Zalmi(one of the franchises of PSL ).


Nowadays:- 

In 2019 he started his youtube channel, and in 2020 he was playing PSL for Multan Sultan.
Now he is doing work for his N.G.O due to COVID-19.
